.ABOUT.

Kitchen for Everyone York (KEY) is an entirely volunteer led registered charity providing hot meals and other support to those experiencing homelessness or in vulnerable situations in York on a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning served from Carecent’s premises at the rear of the Central Methodist Church in St Saviourgate. We also run a Saturday and Monday evening outreach service around the City. We are a fully volunteer led charity led by a team of Trustees, and supported by over 100 volunteers.

Originally started in late 2015 by Dave Hobman the ambition was to fill a gap in services to those in need by providing a Sunday morning breakfast.

Since that time KEY has seen a huge increase in those sleeping rough in our city and has subsequently started the Tuesday evening sessions in May 2017 serving a 3-course dinner and the Saturday evening outreach sessions in October 2017.

KEY also signposts customers to other service providers who can provide accommodation and ultimately in some cases long-term housing solutions.

Our mission is to help and support individuals who find themselves homeless in our area by providing hearty & nutritional meals, clothing, toiletries, snacks and any other essential items they may require.

With the growth in service users there has also been a growth in volunteers. We now have over 100 volunteers plus 9 team leaders covering the shifts which are run on a rotational basis. Without these amazing people and the generosity of those who donate, KEY would not be where it is today.
